Culture ~The key to having fun!~
The East Village

じゃあ、
Everything ok today?
Today, we will continue
with the neighborhoods
of New York Series!!!
The East Village
I didn't know it
when I came to New York,
but there are 3 villages
in New York!

The East Village
The West Village
Greenwich Village
They each have
their own culture!
Today, we will focus
on The East Village!!
East of Broadway and the Bowery
from 14th Street down
to Houston Street!
This is a rough description,
there are some smaller
neighborhoods that
claim space!
*rough: 大まかな

The East Village has
a very young feeling to it!
At night, there are usually
a lot of people
hanging out!!
The shops stay open late!!!
You can find interesting
clothes, food, and a nice
selection of bars there!
St. Marks
セントマークス

This is an are around
St. Marks street!
This is 8th street between
2cnd avenue and 3rd avenue!
There are many Japanese
spots there:
Yakitori
Takoyaki
Izakaya
There are also
some new Korean Spots!
This area has a great energy!!
It really feels alive!
Indian Street

6th Street between
2cnd ave. and 3rd ave...!
This street is full of
Indian Restaurants!
They have great specials
and if you go at lunch
time it's really cheap!
Tompkins Square Park
This is a cool s
quare
shaped park that
attracts a lot of locals!
Locals are people that
live in the neighborhood!
Not overcrowded
with tourists!!
Alphabet City
アルファベット・シティ
Alphabet City comprises nearly two-thirds
of the East Village. It was a dangerous
New York City neighborhood.

It's different now!!!
The New York Times said
that Alphabet City is now
"the epicenter of
downtown cool."
*epicenter: 震源地、中心地
英語でこれなんていう???
寒がり
Cold-natured

This is someone
who gets cold easily!!!
The opposite??
Hot-natured!
"Girls are more cold-natured
than guys!"
"I'm also cold-natured."
"I'm cold-natured, but
I'm getting used to New
York Winters!"

I'm a big fan of
The East Village
