The movie follows a man named Danny. He is a young guy
who takes a job in the summer as a caddy. While working there
he meets a lot of interesting people. He meets a guy there who
helps him be a better golfer and at the same time teaches him
about life. During this time a newcomer starts causing a lot of
trouble. He is a rich guy and is very loud. He is played by a
very famous comedian in America, Rodney Dangerfield.
Most of the actors in the film were comedians and became
very famous after this movie. Bill Murray from
"Lost in Translation" is the grounds keeper. Chevy Chase plays the young guy’s mentor.
Culture
Danny represents the All American Kid.
This means his story is like a dream. The dream
most kids have of being successful in some way. Danny,
like other kids, has a hard time with women, work, and school.
The great thing about this film is that he turns down the easy
way to success!!!
Favorite Scene
There is a Priest who goes out to play a quick 9 holes.
It looks like it is going to rain but he wants to play.
As the storm starts, he starts playing amazingly well.
The wind blows his ball into the hole over and over again.
He can't do anything wrong. On the last hole, he has a put
to beat the course record. He misses it and screams at God.
A lightning bolt comes from the sky and strikes him down.
The caddy looks around, drops the bag, and runs off!!!
Later in the movie we see him sitting at a bar getting drunk.
*priest: 神父 ligtning bolt: 雷 run off: 逃げ去る
This is really 80's culture. This movie really
shows the loud, aggressive, and often funny side
of Americans.
